May, 2017:  “Family Crawfishing Fun!” (TripAdvisor Review )
Crawfish Haven/ Mrs Rose’s Bed & Breakfast is a true unique cajun experience. The hospitality is top-notch. Kids will enjoy riding in the boat and sorting crawfish, running around playing on the grounds around the house, catching crawfish the “old cajun” way with set nets, and helping with the boiling. Owner, Barry Toups, also offers a lot of history and education of the area, the property, and crawfishing. The house is just a short drive from the quiet town of Kaplan.. or about a 25 minute drive to the city of Lafayette. The B&B is also a great place for a group of hunters to stay in the winter, as it sits in the heart of some of the best duck and goose hunting lands in the Mississippi flyway!

May, 2017: “Girl Cousin Reunion” “TripAdvisor Review
My sisters, cousins and I held our annual reunion at Crawfish Haven. Mr. Barry Toups was the perfect host; Southern hospitality with a Louisiana flair! The house was perfect for our group with plenty sleeping space and room to gather for visiting inside and outdoors as well. Such a treat to awaken to the smells of coffee brewing & breakfast being prepared. Crawfishing in the pond was fun and the boiled crawfish dinner was delicious. We couldn’t have been happier!

May, 2017: “My Wife and I adventure for the entire weekend of our 17th wed ann and Mom’s day 2017.” (TripAdvisor Review)
We arrived Friday afternoon the 12th of May 2017. We were greeted by Mr. Toups warm welcome. The first thing I saw and smelled was the huge pot of gumbo on the stove. We introduced ourselves and he told the story of Mrs. Rose and his relationship and the start of Crawfish Haven. Fortunately for us we were the only couple booked that weekend and had the entire house to ourselves. We had dinner then walked around the grounds and listened to peace and quiet and not the sounds of New Orleans. Watch the sunset and went on to relax and go to bed. The next morning we had crawfish eggs breakfast and went on our boat excursion to catch some crawfish. My wife loved every minute while I took pics and filmed. It was amazing to see her so happy. Came back to the house and boiled up and had some spicy crawfish for dinner. Laid around for the evening and enjoyed ourselves and talked how we ever made it to 17 years of marriage and 3 children. Life was perfect for just that moment in time and cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with her. Left the next day on mother’s day and headed home. We will back soon. Wonderful place.

January, 2017:   Barry: This is Dallas Bozeman from Outdoor Association for True Heroes (OATH, Inc.) Thank you so much for hosting us this weekend. Our veterans absolutely loved every minute of their stay and your hospitality put our trip over the top. I wanted to beat the guys from Paradise Louisiana to the punch, so we left you a review on TripAdvisor. Thank you again for working with Kevin Gonzalez and making our stay so memorable. We can’t wait to come see you again. Sooner rather than later we hope!

“The Heart of Cajun Heartland”
Louisiana is known for it’s rich culture, cajun cuisine, and hospitality. You can find in most anywhere in the cajun heartland, but rarely do you find it all in one place. Mr. Barry Toups is the exception. This weekend Mr. barry hosted America’s Finest; combat veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan. From the moment our men arrived they were treated like family. Mr. Barry took the boys on a crawfish excursion where they learned about the rich farming history of Louisiana. We’re not talking about a walk around the pond either. Barry offers an incredible opportunity, guiding his tenants through the entire operation and allowing them to harvest their very own mud-bugs for the best boiled crawfish we’ve ever eaten! He took the time to talk us through the art of a true crawfish boil, involving our heroes every step of the way. Mrs. Rose’s Bed and Breakfast is a beautiful staple of the Kaplan community. This wonderful homestead dates back to 1903 and still holds its antique feel. It’s no stay at grandma’s house though. The home has some wonderful upgrades including a screened in boil house out back with a big screen tv, rocking chairs built by Barry himself, and community tables for your party to gather round and share laughs about what I guarantee will be a once in a lifetime experience. As our veterans packed their bags and prepared to make their journey home, one young man said, “This has been the most fun and relaxing weekend trip I can ever remember.” All the credit belongs to Mr. Barry, the heart of the Cajun Heartland.

May 11, 2015:  Delightful Retreat (5-Star review posted on Trip Advisor): “My friends and I had a most enjoyable time at Mrs. Rose’s/Crawfish Haven In Kaplan last month. It was a serene, quiet get-away out in the country. Barry cooked a delicious crawfish omelet for breakfast and took us to the crawfish pond for our morning adventure. It was very interesting checking the crawfish traps and hearing the tales of what being a crawfish farmer is all about! I can’t wait to go back with family to experience this delightful escape from everyday life. Thank you Barry for having us! Your place is a treasure.”
